Eugene W. McBride’s studies have been at the Juilliard School of Music, William Paterson College (now Wm. Paterson University) and the Center for Media Arts. Stanley Wolfe, Huge Aitken, Nahum Amir, and Steven Wohlrab are listed as his primary composition teachers. McBride’s orchestral piece, Four for Orchestra, is recorded on MMC Orchestral Miniatures, Vol. V, with the composer conducting the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra. Mr. McBride has received funding from Meet The Composer. He is a member of BMI and is one of the founding members of the New York Composers Circle. Mr. McBride is production associate and reviewer for the New Music Connoisseur magazine, a periodical devoted to the contemporary music scene.
Currently Mr. McBride is working on an opera called On Burning Ground. It is based on the book of the same name by Michael Skakun. This harrowing memoir of Mr. Skakun’s father begins in December 1941. In order to stay alive Michael’s father had to assume other identities when the Nazis occupied his hometown of Novogrudek, Poland.
